Data Protection Course for Data Stewards

We are pleased to announce that the first virtual GHGA data protection course will be held on May 23rd from 3-5pm. This course is designed to provide an overview of data protection regulations and obligations, with a focus on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

During the two hour course, we will cover the following key talking points:

  • - What is personal data and special category personal data? We will explore the different types of data that are protected under the GDPR, including what makes data personal and why some forms of personal data are considered to be ‘special category’.
  • - What is the purpose of legal bases for processing and what are they?
  • - Data processing roles and obligations: what roles are described in the GDPR, and what are the obligations of each role?
  • - Data subjects' rights: what rights do data subjects have under the GDPR, and how can they exercise these rights?
  • - Data protection measures in GHGA: What measures does GHGA have in place to protect personal data and ensure compliance with the GDPR?

Our expert speaker, Simon Parker (Data Protection Coordinator for GHGA), will provide a detailed overview of these topics and will be available to answer any questions you may have.

This course is predominantly for GHGA members as data protection training for staff processing personal data is a key part of GHGA's data security model, and Data Stewards will be required to attend training regularly.

However, remaining places on this course will be filled from a waiting list.
