ELIXIR is a European life science infrastructure that facilitates data management, sharing, and analysis. It integrates bioinformatics resources across Europe, including databases, computational services, and training programs, to support researchers in handling biological and biomedical data effectively.
ELIXIR’s mission is to ensure that life science data is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR), improving research quality and fostering collaboration across national and institutional boundaries. Each participating country operates a national node that connects local bioinformatics expertise with the broader ELIXIR infrastructure.

The German Network for Bioinformatics Infrastructure (de.NBI) is a national initiative that provides bioinformatics services, training, and computational resources for life science research in Germany. Coordinated by de.NBI members Germany's ELIXIR node (ELIXIR-DE) ensures that national bioinformatics efforts align with European standards, contributing to data integration and interoperability across ELIXIR.
ELIXIR-DE offers a comprehensive suite of services, including database hosting, cloud infrastructure, and researcher training, reinforcing Germany’s role in the European bioinformatics landscape.
GHGA collaborates with de.NBI and ELIXIR-DE, leveraging their robust cloud and computing infrastructure to advance genomic research. This partnership ensures technical alignment on cloud standards, seamless data integration, and interoperability - enhancing GHGA's role in bridging national initiatives with international networks such as ELIXIR.
The adoption of FAIR principles drives GHGA's commitment to creating standardised, reusable, and interoperable research data. In an effort to publicise the principles, GHGA and ELIXIR-DE co-organise training initiatives to equip researchers with essential data management skills and awareness around open science.
