The West German Genome Center (WGGC) is a joint scientific institution of the universities in Aachen, Bonn, Düsseldorf, and Köln. It brings together expertise in genomics, sequencing technologies, and bioinformatics, providing a powerful infrastructure for generating high-quality genomic data for biomedical research.
As part of the national genomics landscape, WGGC contributes to the standardised and quality-controlled generation of omics data. These data form an important foundation for GHGA, which enables the secure archiving and controlled access to sensitive genomic data across Germany through a federated infrastructure that supports both research and clinical applications.
Together, WGGC as a data production hub and GHGA as a data infrastructure create a seamless pipeline from sequencing to data-driven research. This strengthens interoperability, standardisation, and the broader development of precision medicine in Germany.
