The goal of the GHGA Training workstream is to provide training to different GHGA communities like scientists and clinicians who are and will be using our database. One aspect that GHGA feels passionate about is the FAIR management of research data, which means making research data findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable (more on that here).

To help researchers to easily achieve the FAIR management of their data, we aim to provide training events and materials on these topics. Therefore, we joined the Training Community for Data Management and Data Stewardship, which was jointly launched by Elixir-Converge and de.NBI earlier this year. This community had been gearing up to provide its own teaching materials on FAIR data management. A hackathon, that lasted all day on June 29th, was the kickoff to a summer of lesson plan and teaching material development. We formed groups to address different topics tailored towards different stakeholders and made plans for continued development over the next few months. The program of the hackathon as well as preliminary results can be viewed here. People who would like to contribute in this community going forward, can reach out to Mijke Jetten (mijke.jetten@dtls.nl) to be added to the mailing list and slack channel.

We’re excited to see the resulting materials published and to use them in future GHGA training events.
